About Us

The West Virginia Laborers' Training Trust Fund is a nonprofit, jointly-administered, labor -management trust fund. Over the last 30 years we have implemented programs to train our members in a variety of technical skills. Currently, we have three locations- West Virginia Appalachian Training at Laborers' Local 616 Cumberland Maryland, West Virginia Appalachian Training at Labores' Local 980, Roanoke, Virginia , and WV Laborers' Training Trust Fund in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. Our main campus in Mineral Wells is located on 170-acres and equipped with classroom buildings, dormitory with dining facilities, a one acre mock hazardous waste site, and a newly constructed 8,750 sq. foot training bay allowing continued year round classroom instruction and hands-on training.

History

On July 6, 1994, The U.S. Department of Laborers' Bureau of Apprenticeship Training (BAT) officially recognized the Construction Laborers' occupation as an apprenticable trade. The Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Laborers' Training Trust Fund realized this official recognition was a long waited opportunity to develop a structured training program that would consistently provide union contractors with productive multi-skilled construction Laborers. The board immediately formed a multi-skilled construction Laborers. The board immediately formed a Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) which developed a comprehensive set of program standards that was approved by the BAT on January 18, 1995, and so began the West Virginia Construction Craft Laborers' Apprenticeship Program.
